Wednesday's Words on a Friday

On Wednesdays, Delores, from A Feathered Nest has a meme which she calls
Words for Wednesday.

She puts up a selection of six words which we then use in a short story, if we are able.
Sometimes I look at her words and nothing at all comes to  mind.

This week's words are:

  1. Queasy
  2. Flames
  3. Blanket
  4. Foul
  5. Blasted
  6. Pie

Here is my short story:

Sophie wrapped the blanket tighter around herself as she stared into the flames burning in the fireplace.
Vomiting always gave her the chills. She wondered what was causing this? Could it have been that blasted pie she'd eaten for dinner two nights ago?

Ben had picked them up on his way home from the footy as a surprise and she'd eaten one to please him. Maybe it had been a little..."off"?  Pies weren't her favourite food and Sophie very rarely ate one.

Ben had eaten the other two and he seemed fine, but then he'd always had a cast iron stomach.

Sophie on the other hand was still feeling queasy and her mouth tasted quite foul in spite of the cup of tea she was sipping at.
If she wasn't better by tomorrow there'd be a visit to Doc Thompson first thing in the morning.

Comments

  1. Hmmmm...I wonder if he poisoned the pie?

  2. Well done! Those pies are causing lots of problems!! Poison? Surely not. Just the difference between the two metabolisms perhaps.

  3. Merlesworld; here's a secret, it wasn't the pie...

    Delores; no poison involved.

Mimsie; there's another surprise cause entirely.

The Wicked Writer; thank you, it's an unfinished story to leave people wondering.

    Any more guesses? Anyone?

  4. My guess is that Ben did have quite a lot to do with her queasiness, and that all will be revealed - oh in about eight or nine months...
Brilliant take on the challenge Delores set.

  5. Elephant's Child; you've got it!

  6. Good job, and you showed much more restraint than I would have with these words. I mean, "blasted" and "foul"? OY! (It doesn't help a bit that I think farts are funny...)

  7. Susan; I think a fart post using these words would be funny and you should post one for us.
