Musical Monday # 93

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Starship

Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now

and the lyrics:

everybody's singing, right?

Comments

  1. Still Sunday night in Perth but no matter. I liked the words but the music is too modern for this old chook. I'd not even heard of the group and yet I am sure they are or have been very popular.

  2. Hi River,

Yes - remember that one - a little too AOR for me but okay nonetheless.

    :o)

  5. A good old song from the 80s..."Mannequin" was a fun movie, too. It's quite a while since I've heard the song, and longer since I've seen the movie. :)

  6. Mimsie; they were popular in the 80s and this song is from the movie Mannequin. one of my favourite movies, where a store mannequin comes to life only for the man who made her.

    Plasman; AOR?

Elephant's Child; it's another oldie from the 80s, a lot of my favourite music is from the 80s.This one featured in the movie Mannequin.

Margaret-whiteangel; it is cheery and bright, good for the spirits.

Lee; I haven't watched it in a long while either, I might make it tonight's after dinner movie.

  7. This is one of those irrisistible songs you can't help singing along to. I don't know what AOR means either...

  8. Hi River,

It means Album-oriented rock (or sometimes Adult Oriented Rock) - creating for mass commercial appeal rather than for their creativity - a sort of American rock that is meant to appeal to a wider audience than the less commercial progressive rock.

Some of it great (for example Africa by Toto and More Than A Feeling by Boston but some it falls into what I call "token rock song" like Don't Stop Believing by Journey, Alone by Heart and Keep On Loving You by REO Speedwagon.

I have quite a few in my collection but I prefer non-AOR to be honest.

I hope that clears it up for you.

    :o)

    Cheers

  10. Jackie K; I usually sing along :)

Plasman; thanks for the lesson. I had no idea, now I've learned something. Probably most of the stuff I like is AOR.

Merle; let him sleep, that's a good idea.
