Sunday Selections #175

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to The Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Kath and Andrew often join in as well, although Andrew has been away on holiday and I'm not sure if he is back yet.
There are a couple of other part-time participants now though:
Jackie K at WorkingThrough It

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm continuing with some photos of my most recent trip to the zoo.

Today we have Giraffes and Sealions.

oh hello, I see you all have cameras....

this is my better side, don't you think?

psst! stop nibbling the roof and look up, there's people here with cameras.
Don'tcha wanna be famous?

oops, chopped off her head!

here you go, full frontal, with a smile.

does this animal print make my bum look big?

no, no. No autographs today.

hello there! so nice of you to drop in.

the water is lovely, care to join us?

no? let's just soak up some sunshine then. Hope you're wearing sunscreen.

we like this girl, she brings us fish.

sometimes we do little tricks, like wave our flippers.

and sometimes we just sit.

we've been trained to retrieve things that get tossed into the water, like this plastic ring and other things that people might toss in, like plastic bottles. we scoop them up and put them in a bucket.

here's a raspberry btthhp! to all of you who try to spoil our home.

  1. Love it. I am always amazed that giraffes have the same number of neck bones that we do.
And join the seal in blowing raspberries. Big fishy raspberries at anyone who pollutes the sea.

  3. That print on any other bum but a giraffe's would look big.
And, I'm with the seal and EC, pbbbbbtttt to all who are polluting the oceans.

  4. Elephant's Child; the same number of neck bones?? doesn't seem fair. He has x bones and a six foot long neck and I have x bones and my neck is only as long as the width of my palm.

Delores; let's all raspberry together, one, two, three, BTTHHP!!

Vicki; big business and careless people who don't properly dispose of their waste. Raspberries all round. Don't they realise how much we need clean oceans?

  5. Great pics and commentary. We went to our zoo a few weeks ago, too, for the first time in maybe twenty years. They have a platform by the giraffes now so people can actually pay for the opportunity to feed them! (Three dollars for like thirty seconds.) Totally cool. I didn't feed them myself, but I got a couple good shots of other people feeding them. I swear, giraffes have tongues almost as long as their necks!

  6. Wonderful pictures. Giraffes do look like they're smiling, don't they? And I didn't know that about the number of neck bones!

  7. Sapphire and I think that the raspberry blowing seal has the same face as our dog, Milly!

  8. Wonderful photos. Who doesn't love a gorgeous giraffe and a cheeky sea lion?

  9. Susan; I've seen the giraffes reach out with those tongues to get leaves from the trees, they certainly are long!

jenny_o; I didn't know about the neck bones either.

Kath; raspberries look the same on most animals I guess.

Jackie K; thank you. There's probably one person somewhere....

  10. Excellent post. Your captions are quite perceptive and apropos. I too like girls who bring me fish.

  11. And a fine selection, too! :)

  12. Where are the otters and the penguins?
I always go for the otters first.
