How can this be right?

all of these found at  Yellow Dog Granny    how old are these children? Five? seems to be a ring of truth in this too, a big strong ring! here one for the journalists, mention one and mention the other.

I've just watched the Sunday evening news..

..and saw Donald Trump doing a little victory dance and throwing red caps into the crowd of his adoring fans.  A lot of those fans are women. Republican women of course. HOW can they NOT see that this latest ruling affects THEM  just as much as it does Democrat women? Do they not realise there may come a day when one or more of them might require an abortion? For whatever reason? HOW can they cheer this latest backstep? Perhaps they will wake up and vote Blue at the next election. If they don't... ...there is talk of the SC going after contraception, gay marriage and probably more that I don't know about. To look at, America is a beautiful country, with forests, mountains, lakes, rivers and the Grand Canyon too.  I read several blogs written by American bloggers, from the North West down to the South East, all of them are people I like a lot, though I have never personally met them, and all as outraged as I am right now.  They seem to all be Democrats, I don't think I have

Sunday Selections # 560

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look. Dr Bob is conducting his regular health checks. I'm sorry sir, you still appear to be very dead. Meg is trying to do a headstand Gillian offers to help Riley: forget about that, come up here with us Jordan: we can see for miles! wow! we can see the entire room from up here! out in the yard, it's winter and this tree, which has just finished dropping all its leaves, already has fat buds which will soon be blossoms causing me grief. my hydrangeas also have new buds growing, yet

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Charlotte and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. dozen  2. tiger  3. redundancy  4. mile  5. confuse  6. equinox  and/or:  1. mountain  2. treaty  3. suspicion  4. strategic  5. investigation  6. light Here is my story: He stood at the pulpit and thundered down upon the assembled masses. "Your methods and ideas are filled with redundancy . You’d run a mile to gain an inch. You make a mountains out of a molehills and confuse the issues with senseless blatherings. I am here to

I'm going to have to stop feeding the birds

Firstly, because it's getting too expensive, secondly, because the wrong birds are getting all the seed! I began a few years ago with feeding mealworms to the magpies who seemed to really enjoy them. Then the crows hustled in and the magpies took off to find food elsewhere. So I continued putting out mealworms for the crows. Until they no longer came for them.  Meanwhile, my upstairs neighbour thought this was a great idea and began tossing out a couple of handfuls of oats for the mourning doves. I'd hear her calling to them, "come, come" and come they did. About a half dozen at first, then more, and more. They're like pigeons, fat and greedy.  More recently, the doves have discovered the seed that I have been putting out for the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, those lovely big white birds you've seen right here on this blog. But they rarely come down now. I hear them squawking and screeching, I see them in the trees. But the seeds are being gobbled up by about th

I'm not sure which twin this is. The yellowed patches on her cheeks are from the adhesive strips holding the feeding tubes in place. They no longer need these. walking around the block I saw this very lovely gate some interesting seed pods hanging from a tree an almost heart shaped space in the middle of these lemons the tree is mediu

They're home!

I've just heard the twins went home from hospital today, aged two weeks and one day. So they have met their big brothers at last. No photos yet. 💖💖💖

I didn't realise I had a comments spam folder until Elephant's Child told me where to find it. So here it is for anyone else who doesn't know. This only applies to those using Blogger. I have no clue about Wordpress. First, go to your "new post" page: on the left there you'll see "comments", click on that and all your published comments appear above the comments is this teeny tiny downward facing triangle, click on that and see this window which has the published comments, those awaiting moderation (0 for me) and the spam, also 0 for me. If there is a number other than 0, click on that and those comments will appear. To the right of each comment if you hover your cursor there will be a tick to click on if the comment is not spam and you wish to publish it. Go ahead and do that and many "lost" comments will now appear on the posts they were meant for. Any comments that are actual spam can be deleted at this point.

Excerpts from an article by Emily Olle, if she reads this and objects, I will remove the post. *(in rent costs)*= my contribution Open for rejection: Rental crisis.... "Every day a new story emerges about this state's crippling rental crisis. A couple forced to pitch a tent in Mannum, or a single father of four copping an almost $200-a-week rise *(in rent costs)* to keep a roof over his children's heads.  Sadly, these are far from the exception. They're quickly becoming the rule for those in the rental market seeking the basic human right of a place to live.  Let's talk through the process. Applications. Much like filling out your dating profile, you go through dozens, if not hundreds of them, and spill your deepest, darkest secrets to a complete stranger. Name, age, income, references, dating history, first pet, where were you on the night of December 17, 1967? Then you have to make time for the date. Can you make it at 11am on a Tuesday? from today's newspaper

Monday, June 13th 1: "Isn't is strange that a group of very intelligent individuals combined into a political party become collectively stupid?" (me: mob rule lives on) 2: "In the UK, breakwaters are installed at right angles to the beach to reduce erosion. Maybe that could work in Adelaide." (me:, yes please, build breakwaters and groynes. Stop this stupid yearly practice of carting truckloads of sand from one beach to another) 3: "In Porters Lake, a town in the Canadian Province of Nova Scotia there are streets named This Street, That Street and The Other Street." (me: I love that! Every town should have those)
