Wednesday's Words on a Friday
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.
The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.
This month the words/prompts are supplied by Charlotte and can be found here
This week's words/prompts are:
1. dozen
2. tiger
3. redundancy
4. mile
5. confuse
6. equinox
and/or:
1. mountain
2. treaty
3. suspicion
4. strategic
5. investigation
6. light
Here is my story:
He stood at the pulpit and thundered down upon the assembled masses.
"Your methods and ideas
are filled with redundancy. You’d run a mile to gain an inch. You
make a mountains out of a molehills and confuse the issues with
senseless blatherings.
I am here to show you
the modern way. With the coming of the equinox a new light shall
shine. Standing behind me are a dozen of my brightest men who will
conduct a strategic investigation of the current practices.
Do not be afraid, none
of you are under suspicion. Once the investigation is complete there
will be a new treaty made and we shall stand strong like a tiger
against any opposition."
Excellent River, excellent! You made very good use of the prompts, as always.
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie; thank you.
DeleteWell done.
ReplyDelete(ツ) from Cottage Country , ON, Canada!
Jenn Jilks; thank you too.
DeleteIs this about Russia/Ukraine? If so - well done. In more than one way and do we all hope a new light will shine soon!
ReplyDeleteIris Flavia; it could have been, but I was thinking of a factory takeover where the workers were made to learn new ways, the factory failed and got sold off at a huge profit for the new owner.
DeleteBoth suit. Sounds a bit like my Frankfurt-project then...
DeleteHim standing at a pulpit and thundering down worries me. I do hope that his new way is better, kinder...
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; no better and definitely not kinder, although he appears to want better things, he has another agenda.
DeleteA bit of threat, a bit of fear and even a little hope. Well done.
ReplyDeleteArkansas Patti; thank you. The hope didn't last long, takeover tactics are rarely for the better.
DeleteHe certainly sounds suspicious to me.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; he's very suspicious and not a nice person.
DeleteIt is a mystery to me why people fall for the same scam over and over again.
ReplyDeleteWell written, River.
Sean Jeating; it is a mystery to me too. Thank you.
DeleteA dozen lions and a tiger escaped from Adelaide Zoo leading directly to River's redundancy. They only travelled a mile or so and I don't wish to confuse you but they were found drinking tea in the Equinox cafe.
ReplyDeleteRiver had fled to a mountain called Mount Lofty where a treaty was signed in 1874. The police already had the suspicion that she would be there and through their strategic investigation they were able to shed light on her exact whereabouts. She was holed up in a cave with a hoard of silver sugar tongs. Her career as a zoo keeper was over.
Yorkshire Pudding; that's a funny one. Thank you for playing.
DeleteHehe, thanks for the laugh. How the sugar thongs entered the tale is not quite clear to me ;)
DeletePromises, promises. Let's see if he can re-invent the wheel!
ReplyDeleteYorkshire, things don't go well when lions and tigers are running about.
ReplyDeleteI think I do not like this sermon, I've heard the likes of this before, and it seldom leads to anywhere nice. Well told and good use of my impossible words - I apologize.
