from today's newspaper

 Monday, June 13th

1: "Isn't is strange that a group of very intelligent individuals combined into a political party become collectively stupid?"

(me: mob rule lives on)

2: "In the UK, breakwaters are installed at right angles to the beach to reduce erosion. Maybe that could work in Adelaide."

(me:, yes please, build breakwaters and groynes. Stop this stupid yearly practice of carting truckloads of sand from one beach to another)

3: "In Porters Lake, a town in the Canadian Province of Nova Scotia there are streets named This Street, That Street and The Other Street."

(me: I love that! Every town should have those)

  4. Smiling at the street names. I wonder whether the breakwater would work? I can't see any reason why not.

    1. Elephant's Child; I don't see why they wouldn't work. Port Pirie has one, other countries have them and groynes too which are similar and also stop or reduce the amount of sand that flows naturally with the tides. my city prefers to scoop truckloads of sand from the beach that has the most, then move it to a beach that needs sand, where it straight away begins migrating back to where it came from.

  6. #3!!! At least something funny! I want "My Street" ;-)
I even deserve this! A friend from Perth wanted to send me a surprise - addressed it to Ingo but had not his surname, so she simply wrote " To Ingo".
We´re a party of 14 and luckily the postie found the neighbor who knows us so I really got the parcel.

    1. Iris Flavia' I'd like to see His Street and Her street too, as well as My Street. There are streets in the suburbs here that have my name and my kids names. I'm glad you have a postie that knows you so you got your parcel.

    2. Fun! There is a Kaiser-Strasse around the corner here.
When I worked for CGS we often went there - there is a place for also those with little money to eat (not that our boss payed us that bad but we had "tickets" cause we have no canteen and also we supported that place with going there).

  8. Sounds like you could get up a comedy act with the street names. Reminds me of a couple who named their dogs , My dog and Your dog.

    1. Arkansas Patti; that's a clever way to name the dogs.

Those street names, were they channeling Abbot and Costello and Who's On First?
