Musical Monday # 103

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: John Lennon

The Ballad of John and Yoko
Some people find this offensive because of the word "Christ" in the lyrics.

I am not one of those people. How about you?

Comments

  1. Don't care - about John, Yoko, or their music LOL

  2. It's never offended me at all.

  3. You wouldn't expect me to be offended, and I am not. Good song.

  4. No offence here either. And a lovely song. Of a couple who I suspect would have lasted.

  5. Christ! I'm not one of those!

  6. He was a different song writer and one of the best.

  7. Nope, no offense here, either. John Lennon had a ton of talent.

  8. Christ will be offended when people stop talking about him.
Men in women's clothes offend me.

  9. First time I'd heard this one and couldn't make out all the words anyway. I have always enjoyed most of the music by the Beatles and lots of John's songs are great too.
Certainly no offence taken. I guess it compliments the word crucify in the song???
They may have been rather strange in their behaviour but it seemed a perfect coupling of two people.

  10. joeh; glad to hear it.

Grace; a lot of people don't care, same as you. I was never a huge Beatles fan, but I did like a lot of their music.

Kathy G; nice to know that.

Andrew; I was pretty sure you wouldn't be offended. it's a great song.

Elephant's Child; I think they would have lasted, they seemed right together.

Lee; ha ha! I haven't heard anyone say they're offended lately, but when the song first came out there were some "holier than thou" church going people who wanted it banned from radio.

Merle; he was one of the best and Yoko was good for him.

susan; he was very talented. Nice to know you're not offended either.

R.H. you think he would be? I think he might not care so much, he'd probably say, "well, each to his own" or something similar.
I haven't seen many men in women's clothes, one who was transgender and taking all the necessary medication to become a woman, he/she was a regular customer at Coles, others I've only seen on TV. Shakespeare's actors were all male, he used boys to portray the women characters in his plays.

Mimsie; I had trouble with the words too and had to really concentrate to get everything and now I've forgotten most of them again.
Their behaviour was strange at times, but the times themselves were strange then, with the hippies and the drugs. John and Yoko did seem right for each other though.

  11. Not offended by the word Christ - it's a bouncy song.

  12. music is peace to soul opening the doors of heaven for it

  13. Well if people keep talking about you, you've made it into their heads.
I knew that about Shakespeare. There's a homo drag queen in Williamstown and he's one hell of a nuisance, startling old ladies and pet dogs. He flounces up and down the shops in a long dress and carrying a handbag, shrieking at all the shoppers. "Whoo-oh!- what a good looking m-a-a-an!" he says. It makes you laugh at first, but gets tiresome. Last Thursday he was in full rant near the pedestrian crossing until a Chinaman ran out of the dry cleaners and booted him up the arse.
It's called shock treatment. And it works.

  14. Margaret-whiteangel; that's why I like it, good beat and rhythm.

baili; music is often what brings me peace when I'm troubled.

  15. Nothing could be worse than the conversations on a sailors messdeck at 'Tot Time'that would have wowsers wringing their hands.

    ReplyDelete
  16. R.H. the bragging drag queen - yes that would be extremely annoying.

Vest; so I should be glad I've never been on a sailor's mess deck, right?
