dented or otherwise damaged cans, what do you do?
This article in yesterday's paper caught my eye. Looks like mould to me. But. Forget the sensational headline for a minute and focus on the can. Notice how it's a little blackened around the bottom rim? I'm not sure it shows, but it looks like the can has been standing in wet conditions, the wrapper looks a little wrinkled too at top and bottom. Was it like this when it was bought? If yes, why buy it? If no, then how was it stored in the home environment? Use by date. Usually irrelevant, unless the can has been opened. We all know that once a can is opened the contents need to be used immediately, especially baby foods. She mentions somewhere in the story that the contents appeared "a bit runny". This happens when food is given to the baby directly from the can, (or jar) with saliva from the baby's mouth being transferred to the contents, which then begins to break down the molecular structure of the canned food. Angel doesn't like chicken either, nor tuna from a can. He does love the raw beef I cut up after trimming my steak.
DeleteMy two have their raw meat for their dinner every night. I cut it up late afternoon and they graze throughout the night. T\My family of birds eagerly hang around my front area waiting for their share, and aren't backward in coming forward in lettint me know if I'm running behind time!
DeleteRemy and Shama dine on either chopped up blade, topside or round, sometimes rump, but mostly one of the former. Dinner for them is always fresh meat. They eat more meat than I do!
There is always a bowl of munchies for them to pick at whenever the mood or appetite strikes; and for breakfast they'll have some form of packet/canned food...but it must be fish of some variety - never meat or chicken.
They are spoiled..and they know it; but I'd have it no other way, nor would they! :)
