First draft is done; now for the editing and re-writing...
ReplyDeleteThe Cranky; well done. I've never got past the short pieces I do for "Words for Wednesday".
ReplyDeleteEditing and re-writing is something I'm not sure I could do. I really admire those who can and then get published.
Sounds like a lot of work; I'll stick to writing my blog!!
ReplyDeletefishducky; I'm having similar thoughts.
DeleteAppropriate for blog writers too.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; and for those who send emails. Oh, and regular snail mail letters too. I often get letters from my sister that are seven pages long (A4 pages) because she keeps repeating herself on each page, just rearranges the words.
DeleteRiver, sounds a bit like my mother's letters.
DeleteHow true it is. And perfection is a myth. Like you, I admire and respect writers though. For their craft and their determination.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; I have a lot more respect for writers since I started doing the Wednesday words challenge.
DeleteI feel like that a lot of the time. If I can get as far as putting down my ideas then I can go back and perfect it. (or try to at least)
ReplyDeleteCheryl; I used to have pages and pages of ideas that were so old the bible looked fresh and new against them, so out they went. But I do print and keep my Friday stories, for future reference. Now and again I'm able to add a chapter to one or more of them.
DeleteAnd done; and done; and done; and done....I'm done!
ReplyDeleteLee; you're done? Are you telling me you've written a book? Memoirs? Resort Memoirs?
Delete..... getting the ideas down on paper is the the first and hardest part.... good advice River.... Barb xxxx
ReplyDeleteBarbara; and then not losing the papers or the notebook (*~*)
Delete.. there is that, too.. \o/.... me looking for my notes.. xxxxx
DeleteI'm waiting for the day when it all start so far nothing has happened.
ReplyDeleteMerle............
Merle; probably just picking up a pencil might help and a nice new empty notebook.
DeleteEven just a few sentences for the blog requires that first draft.
ReplyDeleteonly slightly confused; that's true.
DeleteNot for me. Tons of the unfinished surround me.
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie; my unfinished stories and ideas are all in folders in a drawer where I can't see them.
DeleteHi River,
ReplyDeleteGreat advice! (Must stick to it ...).
:o)
Cheers
PM
Plasman; I like advice, but carrying it out isn't always easy.
DeleteSo true oh so true. Hug B
