Sunday Selections #97

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm featuring DUCKS.
These ducks are in our Botanic Gardens.

I'm not sure what type of ducks these are, like people, there are many different varieties, but the ducks in the Botanic Gardens are very used to people wandering around.

These two are in the pond just beside the kiosk where you can buy bags of bread to feed the ducks with.
No bread today? Well, goodbye then.

This fine fellow was happy to pose for me.

He seemed quite disappointed when I was moving on and followed for a few metres.
Perhaps he was hoping I had some bread.

These three babies were happy to huddle together in the sunshine,

while their brother (sister?) remained in the water, swimming around the reeds and ducking under repeatedly to see what was going on under there.

Mama duck appears to be napping, but she was keeping an eye on me and when I got too close she stood up and warned me off.

I began loading the first image, expecting the warning about having to buy extra storage from Picasa, and I was prepared to do that, but that didn't happen, the photos loaded just fine and super quickly.
So it looks as if Sunday Selections will continue for a while longer.

  3. Bonza photos i especially the photos of the cute ducklings. I reckon the fella that posed for you was definitely looking for a piece of bread as a reward.

  4. Thank you, I love your ducks. I love all ducks - though my father always described short people as having 'duck's disease' - bum too close to the ground.
I am also really pleased that you are able to post photos again - though I wonder whether it was a google scam to make people like me buy more space. Hiss and spit.

  7. Andrew; the photos are a couple of years old so the ducklings probably have grandbaby ducklings by now.

Delores; I'm glad the photos loaded too. I have renewed interest in wandering about with my camera.

Windsmoke; next time I go, I'll buy a bag of bread to feed them.

Elephant's Child; I know many people who have "duck's disease".
I'm wondering about the photo space too, since I was able to upload this morning without buying any. Hiss and Spit indeed.

Molly; so good to be able to post photos again.

Joanne Noragon; I do prefer my world to be right side up. an occasional flip is fine, but not when it comes to my internet access or lack of. That just throws me completely off course.

  8. Cute, cute, cute. You know I'm very partial to ducks. The babies are always a stitch the way they follow their mother. Cody (dog) and I were just watching ducks on our walk this morning. Of course I had to put her on a leash or she would have jumped in with them. Ha

  9. Beautiful pictures, River. I've always loved ducks and I think part of the reason is their 'smiley shaped, beaks!

  13. Manzanita; welcome back. I love the way ducklings stay in a group behind mum when they're swimming.

Kath Lockett; duck beaks are more friendly than geese beaks.

40Plus Teenager; welcome to drifting. I'm happy that I can post pictures again.

Happy Elf Mom; we have many different types of ducks here. My mum used to keep geese, they make good watchdogs.

Susan Flett-Swiderski; I love sweet fuzzy baby anything, especially kittens and puppies.
