Sunday Selections # 186

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to TheElephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Kath and Andrew often join in.
There are a couple of other participants too:
Jackie K at WorkingThrough It
Gillie at The View from Here

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm showing a small selection of winter in Australia skies, for those in the northern hemisphere, so they can see the terrible conditions we southerners have to suffer...hee hee

Just look at that. Stark, dark, leafless trees, big fluffy grey clouds...oh, and some blue sky too.

sometimes the clouds grow heavy and quite black.

looking to the East of Fullarton Road

looking West of Fullarton Road

where the two skies meet down the middle of the road.

Pretty harsh eh?
Winter in Australia.
Sometimes it even rains.

  2. And I wish it would rain here. It has been predicted, but the weather boffins are strangers to the truth.
    Love your moody skies.

  4. Well, it seems cold enough to us. I think we are past the worst of cold weather now. Having said that, it is very grey and rainy looking here today.

  5. We've had some very welcome rain here the past couple of days, as well as some last week. It's been great, and much needed.

I hope it sticks around for another couple of days....showers are predicted to do so. That'll keep a smile on my face!

Have a good week ahead, River...cuddles to Angel. :)

  6. We had a wonderful winter till about two week ago but we do need the rain, I just prefer it in drips and drabs not all at once.

  7. Delores; and if you get sick of gloomy, just turn 180* and there'll be blue skies. usually.

Elephant's Child; I wish it would rain too, preferably overnight so the gardens and farms get it, with sunny days.

Rose ~ from OZ; we've had harsher, but not often. Moody skies are great for photography.

Andrew; I think there will still be a frosty morning here and there, but the breeze last Friday was warm, so spring is definitely on the way.

Lee; doesn't matter which part of Aus you live in, rain is always much needed. Unless you've just recently been flooded out. If only the weather could manage a happy medium.

Merle; I'd like my rain overnight, with sunny days, people who aren't me could play sports and have bbqs, gardens would grow. Aus would be pretty perfect.

  10. Kakka; welcome back. I'll pop on over and have a look.

Vicki; the moody skies are often the best part of our winters, since we don't get much ground frost here in the city.

  11. How I love clouds and the rain that sometimes comes with them but not nearly enough unfortunately.
They are great photos and I love the contrast between the blue and grey and then when they meed in the middle.
