Sunday Selections #117

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to The Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Kath and Andrew often join in as well.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm continuing with some photos of the Chocolate Art displayed at the opening of the new Rundle Place taking the place of the original Harris Scarfe department store building.

Chocolate Roses.

A chocolate handbag, for carrying your chocolate in of course.

Marilyn Monroe was there.....

...and Audrey Hepburn too.

the artist at work touching up one of the mannequins.

and her assistant who was happy to be photographed.
I asked permission to use these on the blog and both women happily said yes.

A lacy chocolate skirt.

this is the little Portachil that tried so hard to keep the chocolate from melting.

It looks a little like a Dalek and R2D2 had a baby, don't you think?

Comments

  1. Spectacular. Love the chocolate roses - and the lacy skirt too. And you are right about the Portachil - which I would like to invite to my house next summer. He could sit on the couch with me.

  3. The portraits are very clever and Portachil is one very scary creature.

  4. R2D2 had a baby.... haha... made me laugh. This is soooooo fascinating. HOW do people do these? It's beyond my comprehension. I'd just want to eat it.
    Thanks.

  5. Elephant's Child; the roses are very pretty, but I prefer real ones. I'd like a Poratchil too.

Delores; he'd be very handy here in the summer, he's on wheels so easily moved from room to room.

Andrew; I really liked the portraits. I could get used to the look of a Portachil in the corner of my living room.

Cindi; who or what would you eat first? I'd try the roses.

Manzanita; I have to admit when it comes to chocolate my first thought is eating, not creating. I wonder if the artist was a child who played with her food a lot.

  6. There, that's the history of a marriage, when women get to middle-age they eat chocolate.

  7. All those items are fantastic and so clever. Thanks for sharing.
We had a Harris Scarfe shop here in Hay Street many years ago that became Harris Scarfe and Sandover. It was a wonderful store that seemed to sell almost everything.
That little machine looks quite scary and I can imagine its parentage is as you quoted.

  8. oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lovely chocolaty post, yummy, but no mint...:(

I've nominated you for a Liebster Award, which you don't have to accept if you don't want to.

  9. R.H. chocolate is comfort food and a staple in any woman's diet. Even before middle age. Much like beer is for men.

    Kelley; yum indeed.

Mimsie; they are quite cleverly done. It isn't something I would ever think to do with chocolate.

The Wicked Writer; no mint, just milk, dark and white chocolate.
Thank you for the nomination. I'm going to decline because I've had the liebster award already, also because I so often forget to pass these awards on to others.
